Ming’s Comments: With restoration druid replacing paladin and priest as the most dominant healer in 2v2, the class has been completely revitalized as more and more players realized the strength of cyclone when comboed with other CC’s. Warriors and warlocks that not long ago only wanted to team with paladins are picking up druid partners like hot WOW girls at a LAN party. In the latest worldwide 2v2 ladder, there are seven warlocks on top ten, followed by five druids (for comparison, our very own golden child is the only rogue player to crack top 10 on worldwide ladder for ANY bracket). Feoria is the highest rated 5v5 druid in Vindication, and one of the best all-around players in his position. While he doesn’t have 12 stamina gems for eyes, I believe this is a high quality article that every tree hugger must read.
The biggest point I want to get across is that druids are, indeed, not the gimped class so many people and even many druids make them to be.
The background for me is that after long pre-TBC play waiting for arena we got a team together as soon as it went live and played up to I believe 2444 at the end of season 1 (2507 was the highest rating on that evening, but we had to play a bunch of games without our paladin who mysteriously disappeared that evening), taking #2 in Vindication. We’ve been floating in the top 10 for the first month or so, and consistently in the top 5 after we did a couple of setup changes, #2 for several weeks prior to season 1 end. I also played some 2’s and 3’s, but far less and without much interest, still, we ended up I believe around 70th place in 2v2 and around 20th place in 3v3.
The entire season 1 I was resto, but after I finished my resto set I had a few weeks of time thinking over what to get next. I’m very glad that I didn’t decide on feral gear at that point – balance has proven to be very effective and picking up 5/5 glad set for balance and still capping 5000 points due to the old formula gave me a good head start for the dual spec play that I do now.

我,是一个在TBC前等待了竞技场很久的德鲁伊玩家,是一个在竞技场开赛后立即组好队并在第一季打拼到2444高分的德鲁伊玩家(事实上2507分是我们那晚达到的最高分数,不过后来我们的圣骑士神秘失踪使得我们仓促应战,失掉不少分),最后拿到第二名. 我们的排名第一个月一直在前十浮动, 不久后我们做了些调整进入前五, 在第一季快结束的几周大概达到第二的位置. 我也玩2V2跟3V3, 不过倾注的热情不大, 不过最终的结果也不赖,2V2第70位,3V3第20位.
整个第一季我都是恢复, 不过在收集好需要的恢复装后我也花了几周思考继续拿什么. 我很满意自己那时没有决定选择收集野性装——平衡被证明是很有用的,得益于老的点数计算公式我收集满了5件平衡角斗士套,这给我的双重天赋双重角色之路开了个好头.
About my teams
5v5
Our 5v5 used to run priest/druid/mage/warrior, swapping in rogue or hunter for the last spot at the beginning of the season. Our biggest stopper was having no paladin, as we played with a HUGE disadvantage before the paladin nerf patch, and still with a big disadvantage after. When we swapped one warrior for another and started playing paladin/druid and paladin/priest, our standing went up from having problems with several teams on the battle group to having only several contester teams who were within the top 5.
5v5 is definitely the deepest bracket out there. Although it is easy to build scrub setups with 4 dps or just play the most standard hunter/mage/warrior/priest/paladin setup (or a shaman instead of hunter, as the last flavor of the month is), most setups aren’t really disadvantageous by that much versus others. Sure, there’s some setup countering, but the amount of luck and skilled play present can turn the tides of that countering very easily, unless you like to run some very unique setup that has a clear-cut counter.

5v5显然是最复杂的,虽然组建一支4DPS队或者标准的猎人/法师/战士/牧师/圣骑士队(最近一个月的趋势是用萨满替换猎人)费不了多少力气, 各种队伍配置的优劣其实相差不大. 当然,队伍类型的相克是有的,不过运气和玩家的能力常常也可以扭转克制的局面.

Our 3v3 used to play healing druid/healing priest/warlock, which is a very interesting combo in that we’ve beaten some of the stranger setups like warrior/warrior/paladin with it that you wouldn’t expect to normally beat with that. The only real “bane” of such a setup is rogue/healer/dps based teams which just lock down the warlock most of the time, although, I’d imagine if our warlock had any better gear (<200 resilience and <10k health at that point) he would’ve been better off against such teams. It plays much like the paladin/priest healer duo combo for outlast, except a druid is much better at getting away and drinking and letting your priest get away and drink than a paladin. In 3v3, there isn’t enough damage to flat out burst your priest down, so BoFreedom and BoProtection is not that important as in 5v5. With the 6s window of cyclone, though, a druid can easily shake off one person attacking either him or the priest and slip into shadowmeld to drink.
The other setup was healing druid/elemental shaman/warrior, which is also very interesting in that a lot of the teams don’t have the capability to survive longer than cyclone against a team like that. When we played warrior/warrior/paladin I would often not even notice one of the warriors dying, as the paladin sometimes didn’t even have time to get a heal off, especially if the warriors wore mixed PvP/PvE gear. However, the weak spot of such a setup was a team based on mage or other druids, who could root/CC the warrior permanently without dispel. A mage/paladin/warrior standard pretty much left us no chances.
3v3 left the best feelings in me, since it’s very hard to come up with a noskill team for that bracket. Paladins are not that dominating with entire teams being built on locking them out (druid/mage/warlock anyone?), warriors aren’t good in anything without a paladin and warlocks aren’t so good anymore compared to 2v2. However it is a lot more setup based than 5v5, that’s for sure. The best bet? Get 2-4 different setups within your arena team and keep putting in counters if you really care about it. A warlock/priest/druid might be countered by a priest/warlock/rogue, which might be countered by a warrior/priest/druid, etc, etc.

我们的3V3队伍最开始是奶德/奶牧/术士, 这个组合的有趣之处是我们经常击败常规的强力组合比如战士/战士/圣骑士,但是却常常被盗贼/治疗/伤害职业这种盯着术士猛轰的组合击败, 不过我觉得如何我们的术士如果再提高下装备也许就能挺过这种队伍的火力了(那个时候是不到200的韧性和不到一万的血量). 这种组合玩起来跟圣骑士/牧师的治疗组合差不多,好处在于德可以方便的脱离喝水然后替换下牧师,轮流补给,而圣骑士相较而言就困难一些. 3V3中, 不用担心过高的爆发伤害放倒你的牧师,因此自由祝福和保护祝福并不想在5V5中那么重要. 凭借龙卷风的6秒时间,德鲁伊可以轻松的摆脱一个人的进攻,以便他或者牧师可以放心的隐遁喝水.(——NE最高!)
另外一种常见配置是奶德/元素萨/战士, 这种配置也相当有趣,因为一次龙卷风时间内,对方可能就有一个人顶不住火力而倒下. 我们面对战士/战士/圣骑士时,经常一不小心对面的战士就倒了,圣骑士有时根本来不及治疗, 特别是那种PvP/PvE混合装的战士. 不过, 这种组合害怕有法师或者其他德鲁伊的组合, 没有驱散的手段,他们可以不停的缠绕,控制战士. 法师/圣骑士/战士的组合能吃定我们……
3v3在我看来最有意思, 因为很少遇到没水平的队伍. 圣骑士不那么强悍,当他遇到整支队伍都锁定圣骑士轰炸的情况(德鲁伊/法师/术士 也许还有其他类型的组合?), 战士失去了圣骑士他就渣了;术士也不像他在2V2里那么无敌. 而且相对于5V5, 它的配置更灵活, 如果你真的在乎3V3, 最好的组合是维持队伍的多样性,避免被特定组合克死,比如术士/牧师/德鲁伊的组合会给牧师/术士/盗贼的组合压制,而后者又给战士/牧师/德鲁伊的组合克制,等等等等.
2v2
My 2v2 was for pure entertainment only and ran a hunter with a druid. We pretty much could force a permanent stalemate vs paladin/warrior and eventually kill them by just chain running/drinking and then praying the stars align and we kill the OOM paladin by roots, moonfire spam while the hunter crits every move. We also ran good against any kind of 2 dps teams by outlasting them, however, as we hit about 2250 it became painfully obvious that any kind of warlock/healer team, even if they were the worst scrubs in the world and the warlock wouldn’t even come up draining mana, would just be guaranteed an insta-win against us because there’s no way a hunter is going to kill a warlock in a round of CC’s without the other team’s healer going AFK or disconnecting.
However, druid/warlock isn’t guaranteed as much scrub friendliness as other warlock setups IMO, for a resto druid can easily die vs 2 dps (although the warlock could solo both of them if it wasn’t for the majority of 2 dps having a warlock themselves) and even to a single warrior if not geared properly, so some amount of kiting skill is already required.

2V2,我纯粹是玩票性质的,选了一个猎人跟我的德鲁伊组队. 我们经常跟战士/圣骑士的队伍陷入僵局,不过一般结果是他们经不起我们的跑路/喝水的战术,空蓝的圣骑士被我的缠绕和月火以及猎人连爆轰死. 我们的消耗战术对2DPS队伍的胜率也不错,不过我们在2250之后被各类术士/治疗的组合修理得七荤八素, 也许我们算是最糟糕的队伍,术士不用法力抽取也能耗过我们, 而我们的猎人在一系列控制之后依然打不死术士,除非他们队的治疗AFK掉或者短线了.
不过,德鲁伊/术士的组合在我看来算是所有术士核心组合里不怎么生猛的, 因为一个恢复德很容易被2DPS放倒 (虽然术士经常可以solo掉那2DPS,不过如果其中也有个术士,那就难讲了……) 甚至一个装备比较好的战士就可以撂倒德鲁伊,所以好好修炼风筝技术吧.
